50% of Traffic by Bikes - Green Cities
Copenhagen plans to lower its CO2 emissions by 80,000 tons by 2015 and a major part of this strategy involves promoting cycling so that 50% of commuting traffic in Copenhagen is done by bike by 2015. The city already has 350 km of bicycle trails and encourages cycling. 40 km of new trails have been created with a further 70 km under development. The green bicycle tracks separate bicycles from car traffic and make it safer and easier for cyclists to get around. Green Cities and cities going green

Sustainable Transportation Alternative in Denmark
Better Place and DSB signed an agreement to provide Danes with door-to-door, sustainable transportation by combining trains and electric cars. The partnership is designed to offer Danes a convenient transportation alternative that leads to a considerable reduction of harmful CO2 emissions, road congestion, and provides a more enjoyable travel or commute experience. Together the two companies will deliver a shared electric vehicle (EV) service.

Offshore Wind Energy to Supply Europe's Electricit
New research findings revealed on September 14, show that there is huge offshore wind energy potential in Europe. According to a recent study, the existing and planned European offshore wind projects would, if implemented, supply 10% of Europe's electricity whilst avoiding over 200 million tones of CO2 emissions every year.

World's First Floating Wind Turbine
The world's first full-scale floating wind turbine, StatoilHydro's Hywind pilot, is being officially inaugurated in the North Sea. StatoilHydro is investing about NOK 340 million (approx. US$ 57m) in the project, with Enova, a state-owned company which promotes environment-friendly changes to energy production and use in Norway, providing NOK 59 million (approx. US$ 10m). Hywind comprises a 2.3-megawatt wind turbine installed on a traditional floater.
