Hello, I’m Emily Polk, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Tuesday, September 7th: Corporations are helping Pakistan’s flood victims despite the “donor fatigue” following the massive relief effort for Haiti. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Business Civic Leadership Center is coordinating the private sector response with the U.S-Pakistan Business Council. IBM Computing for Clean Water

World Community Grid, a voluntary, worldwide network of PCs, today announced several computing projects aimed at developing techniques to produce cleaner and safer water, an increasingly scarce commodity eluding at least 1.2 billion people worldwide. One initiative will simulate how human behaviors and ecosystem processes relate to one another in watersheds such as the Chesapeake Bay. Other projects will explore advanced water filtering techniques and seek cures for a water-borne disease. [IBM].

Zero Emission Tractor Launched in North America

The New Holland NH2™ hydrogen-powered tractor will make its North American debut on August 31 at the 2010 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa. The NH2™ tractor is a 106 hp working prototype able to perform all the tasks of a tractor while operating virtually silent and emitting zero pollutants. New Holland's experimental hydrogen-powered tractor aims to help farmers limit the cost of purchased fossil-fuel and meet increasingly stringent emissions standards.
